The airfield check at 09:00am showed that the surface was spongey, but essentially serviceable. We commenced flying at about 10:00am. We had to stop at 10:50 - 11:10 due to a Remembrance Day radio silence, landing and launch ban. Strange! We have never known one of those before.

A good day followed with 30 launches and some valuable training. Humza Hamid and Al McNamara did 12 instructor course flights.

Congratulations to Arthur Barfield for his Discus CS conversion, Paul Field for his first aerotow flying the Rotax Falke.

The longest flight of 1 hr 10 mins was Mick Boydon, who re-converted himself to the Astir CS for the first time in over 30 years and that was a CS 77.

The star of the day was Greg Weeks, who is truly an ambassador of the club and the sport. I was very impressed by the way he hosted our flying guests throughout the day. A special mention also for Sarah Willocks, today’s duty pilot, whose hieroglyphics on the flying board enabled everyone to fly, even though they hadn’t the faintest idea it was them on the list!
